hobbitblue: (french)
Thursday was pretty groovy all told, I felt more human than sometimes, was up earlier and found the post had brought the new rental dvd from Amazon - Disney’s Cinderella! Which I couldn’t resist watching, well, just the first section, with the soundtrack in French and also French subtitles so I could follow the words better… very cute, should be fun to do that, I’m really bad at understanding spoken French these days but Disney is about the right level ::grin:: And Forest was delighted to be shown cute animated French mice before he’d had his first coffee. No, really…. :)

I got my shower soon after breakfast, donned my fave blue holyclothing skirt and curled up to read my French fantasy book, Le Chemin de la Louve, which is beautifully written, even if I had to look up every other word of the first paragraph in the dictionary - I got the gist of the next bit where we meet the white wolf Imala though. Am going to revel in reading this, no matter how long it takes.

Lunch was a treat too, have been really craving pesto and my stomach seems to have settled finally, so I risked making a batch to have with my usual ham, cheese & cherry tomato tortilla wrap. Yum. And then we played in the garden with worms, and then I needed a nap while Forest was busy testing the new pressure washer by washing the car, very ambitious if you ask me! It looks like a fun toy and certainly v. effective but the poor cats were terrified, I headed back upstairs after grabbing a snack and there were two sets of huge shocked eyes ranged on the steps, and then later PC was crouched miserably in the far corner of my dad's bed, with Buffy hunkered down in the doorway. Poor kitties - noisy hissing wet thing is clearly intent on eating them! ::giggle::

I had pesto again with my chicken at dinnertime, which really shouldn't make me so extraordinarily content, must be the basil, or maybe the richness of it; either way, was a tasty treat. Fingers crossed I can have more later in the week with no problems.

I'd hoped to play the cello but was too tired, so read more ebooks instead, oh and tried to get the hang of the way the lyrics to Ne Me Quitte Pas fit with the tune, having found an mp3 of Jacques Brel lurking on the drive. It doesn't help that the timing of the guitar version I play is slightly different, so the stresses fall strangely compared to the recording. Maybe I'll just memorise the words first before trying to fit them round the tune.

And so to bed :)

Mm, lovely bright sunshine and blue skies again today, I was determined to get out into it, though had to get past the instant nap that hit before lunch first, felt quite groggy but food helped, and then I wandered out into the garden in my dressing gown but with a hat to keep the shiny out of my eyes and sat happily on the bench listening to my Michel Thomas French cds.. am getting so much out of those still, the way he presents things makes it seem easy and approachable, plus he comes along with little pointers, like the fact that many verbs which are taken from nouns will sound much the same as English and are formed thusly - and suddenly you've got wide vistas of potential language opening and have the confidence to go and bounce through them. Joyously even. Well, that's how I feel... :)

I needed another lie down before my shower, and a wee rest afterwards but we were able to get out to the shops for a few last minute things, and even zoom up the road for petrol, though I'd have enjoyed it a tad more if I'd not managed to bang my head really enthusiastically off the car roof when climbing in, so much so that the world span a bit. Ouch. That and the initial shakiness of the day led me to believe a small batch of Scotch pancakes was in order, so I was just downstairs being all sticky with their warm, syrupy selves, and I do feel a lot more human. Coffee now, and then ponder some more French perhaps...

Much better start to the day than Friday, where I woke up all panicky and shivery thanks to a weird allergy, most likely the dried chilies in Forest's stir fry. Oops. Dad persuaded me downstairs for breakfast and so they could keep an eye on me, and that and several gallons of water seemed to help, as did a nice long shower, so that I was feeling up to reading Harry Potter in French (sorry for the obscure post regarding same, was meant to be a personal note), and then made a batch of chocolate "ganache" pots, one of which went down very nicely after dinner ::grin::

Scooted to the pet shop but failed to buy either fishies for Zeb or white rats for Kithra (they had black ones but she's so picky there's no point), then picked up a few things from the shop including cream for there was to be pie. Mmm, pie. Strawberry & pear turnovers from the last batch we made and froze, delicious.

There's been good foods & nice treats of late, I must say: dinnertime saw me cooking my beany pasta dish again, and then I spent a happy hour or two wandering around on Amazon taking advantage of their 3 books for £12 offer, nice trashy vampire stuff, whee. I was there for French poetry also but got sidetracked... :)

Oh and it was cuddle time for Zebedee late on, he was climbing the walls (literally) so I reckon he wanted out, he was much calmer and more content having fingers to slither round and sit and doze in, cute little snake.
