Ooh goody, LJ has come up with a brand new feature, a public Explore area - so if you don't opt out any and all of your non-private or non-friendslocked entries have a chance of popping up in whichever section they feel will suit.

Isn't that exciting?

*sigh*

Why can't these things be opt IN, instead? And yes, I'm fully aware that posting things publically on LJ means anyone can read them, but that doesn't mean I need them splattered across a big page with lots of other nifty soundbytes, RSS feeds, promotional wotsits and the rest.

Relevant post here, clicky link for your opting in, out, shake it all about settings handily here (the same place you could assure LJ you actually are brave enough to view adult content without flinching, and that no, really, you don't want any kind of sponsored ads or corporate stuffs anywhere near you).

Oh and reading through comments on the main post I note communities cannot opt out, only the individual members of same can, so even if your own journal is friends only, if you post publically to comms, things might turn up.

Been a quiet sort of hobbit on lj this week mainly because I've been so tired and ick and not doing much, except house stuff and a bit of crying and a couple of little seizures... I felt a lot better today though, was up at a sensible time, did my chi kung and got my shower before lunch (which counts as pretty ambitious of late, sad to say), read a bit of French and then invented a new recipe for lunch, which was baked potatoes done in the microwave and then cut open into shells and done under the grill with ham and spring onions and cheese melted on. Tasty enough, not amazing and likely not worth repeating but I was pleased to have felt up to trying.

Had to go shopping to buy food and then I invented another recipe for dinner, chicken casserole based on ideas from lots of recipes but given my own twist. It had parsnips and carrot, button mushrooms, butterbeans, new potatoes, garlic and herbs along with chicken and onions and worked pretty well, leastways I had fun inventing and cooking and then the house filled with lovely smells. It didn't work out quite as I wanted though, and wasn't enough food to make up for energy expended so that counts as a fail, as does any meal where I have to keep eating extra stuff to not be crying or feeling faint. I shall nevertheless bask in the warm glow of having had enough oomph to be doing it in the first place, and I certainly liked the result of coating the chicken pieces in seasoned flour to pan fry them before adding them to the pot, might do that just as a meal itself at some point...

I'm back to reading my French book set in Egypt (L'Abyssin) which is good fun still, the poor central character is having such a bad time of it though, having been sent as unwillng envoy to the king of Abyssinia and come back triumphant with coffers of gold, several elephants and slaves as gifts, the gold was robbed, the slaves absconded and the elephants died on route, and he's finally got to the court of Louis XIV and opened the case of elephant ears (all he had left as proof, and only salvaged because the cook fancied eating them) and they've mouldered into a pile of powder and insects. King retreating rapidly from the horror and definitely not amused ::giggle::

Time has been spent helping Forest with various website and photo stuff, made a really cool banner last night, looks very classy and links the artoncamera and hodsonphoto sites nicely, both now with blogs and the latter about to get a serious overhaul once we've sorted out a couple of other things.

Not done much music though I played a little harmonica the other day, ooh but got parcels, 2 new Marc Levy books from amazon.fr and 3 gorgeous boxwood netsuke which are a curled up tiger cub, a splatted hippo and the cutest sweetest little baby mouse imaginable. I snuggled up under a blankie last night to watch Patrick Troughton as Dr Who while petting my wee wooden mousie, most comforting, especially with the rain and sleet and the wind whipping round the house, brrr.
